Swap : "Frame Your Quote"

Hi,

I had participated in the swap organized by our very own and amazing group Swap Central India. The blog is owned by 3 Crafty people, Khushboo, Saumya and Tejal....
This blog is created so that all the crafters can share the joy of swapping their handmade items and craft supplies.

The topic of the swap was : "Frame Your Quote".  The rules of the swap were as below:

When you sign up, send an email with your postal address and favorite quote that you would love to hang in your room. That quote will be sent to your partner and your will get a quote from your partner to be worked upon.
It made no sense for us to send you a quote that someone else likes...so we want you to email your favorite quote to us, so it actually resonates with you.
What to do with the Quote
You have to create an A4 size page using that quote as the highlight. Create something like an Art journal page. No Canvas please. Heavy weight CS or 300gsm Watercolor paper or thicker.
It is not necessary to use mixed media. You can simply use inks and stamps to create the page too. If you like doing mixed media, you can do that too. You can use any supplies that you have...no restrictions.

The quote which I got from my partner Renuka Bindu was : "This heart of mine was made to travel this world"...

And my take on that is :

  • I have distressed the plain white paper with the inks: Mustard Seed, Worn Lipstick,   Spiced Marmalade, Wild Honey & Tumbled Glass.
  • The buildings are hand cut from one of the patterned paper, the road is also hand cut from a glittered black and yellow paper.
  • The Eiffel Tower, the world globe, "fun", "Happy time" etc are stamped with Itsy Bitsy travel clear stamp
  • The airplane, lil passport, Italy tickets, glares and brown bag are all hand crafted sticker and again from Itsy Bitsy
  • The cloud chipboard is also distressed with Peeled Pain DI. n it's a local buy.
  • The lil doll and its pink bag is a goodie which kids get from kinder-joy chocolate :) Yes, I got it from my son's kinder-joy :)
  • The message is printed white paper which are distressed with Peacock Feathers & Olive Green.
  • The wooden block is customized with the engraved word "Travel" within it, it has crystals in its rear portion. I have ordered it from a local gift shop.

Its a literally my first trial on distress inks. Yes, there are few points where I had to be more patient...but still I have given my best....Do let me know your views on it.....

Thanks for dropping by....

A Birthday Card With Quilled Flowers

I made the above card on the occasion of a Birthday. The card is made on the base of the below template from clean&simple.

Though the flowers are not so crisp and neat but I tried my level best to make it look pretty. I learned it from one of a quilling project book. So the flowers are just came out as an experiment. The pattern papers are from Itsy Bitsy. The blue colored gorgeous butterflies are one of my favorites and are also from Itsy Bitsy. I have decorated them with rhinestones.

A Birthday Card

I made the above card on the occasion of my hubby's birthday. The top green and red flower is from Itsy Bitsy. I have given the fringing effect to the overall sides of it. Its center is made from a quilling strip by fringing it. The below flower is a simple quilled flower with again a fringed center. I have added a sentiment "It's your special day" to it. The sentiment is again from Itsy Bitsy. The base of the card is a plain red patterned paper, added one more layer of blue and green flowered pattered papers to make it more elegant. I have also added (my fav embellishments) rhinestones to it.

The inspiration of the above card goes to the below clean&simple sketch, however I have added little twist.

An Anniversary Card With Quilled Roses

I made the above card on the occasion of 30th anniversary of my in-laws. The heart in the center is made of quilled roses. Thanks to Bhavana Kesarkar for the workshop. The message is handwritten.

It's a simple yet elegant card made out of patterned paper from Itsy Bitsy, red colored rhinestones and few pearls.

ICR SECRET SWAP SERIES : YEAR END GIFT SWAP!!!

Hi Friends,

The swap was all about gifting your partner with your desired items other than crafting like music/movie CDs/DVDs, fragrances, jewelry, cookies, chocolates, etc...

I had sent this to my swapping partner and a wonderful crafter Tanvi Shah from Bangalore along with the below pictured lovely bicycle filled with chocolates. (Photo courtesy Tanvi Shah)

I had also sent the below card along with the gift. It's a simple card with a quilled flower and few matching rhinestones with the handwritten message of ICRS12 and celebration of a new year.
